Bodrum

Situated on a beautiful peninsula, Bodrum, home of the famous Greek historian Herodotus, is these days better known as a popular holiday resort. Enchanting villages of houses painted in white and trimmed with purple bougainvillea together with miles of sandy beaches and ideal locations for water sports. Bodrum casts a magic spell. Two meters under the narrow streets of Bodrum's 5000 years of history include the castle, the Myndus Gate, the Roman theatre and the Mausoleum.

Visit the Castle of St Peter and its Museum of Underwater Archaeology, then wander the whitewashed lanes and bazaar of the old town.

Spend a day aboard a traditional wooden gulet, stopping to swim in the peninsula's turquoise bays. Excursions are not included.

A final day in Bodrum to relax at your hotel or visit the fishing village of Gumusluk for a sunset seafood dinner.

After breakfast, your private car takes you north to Kusadasi, a drive of about two and a half hours, to your hotel, a 5-star hotel in Kusadasi that is your home for the next 5 nights on an all inclusive basis.

Kusadasi

Kusadasi is the staging post for Ephesus (the Turkish equivalent of Pompeii) well known for the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and is a popular tourist destination. Nearby there is the opportunity for lazing on the beach, snorkelling and for the thrill seekers out there, try the aquapark.

Walk the marble streets of Ephesus to the Library of Celsus and the Great Theatre, then visit the House of the Virgin Mary. Excursions are not included.

Head into the hills to the village of Sirince, known for its stone houses and fruit wines, or spend a relaxing day at your hotel.

A final full day on the beach or by the pool, followed by an evening stroll around the harbour.

After breakfast, make your way to Izmir airport, about an hour and a quarter by road from Kusadasi, for your flight home to the UK.
